Ever heard of a jelly roll???

OK, I'm new to the whole quilting thing. I'm learning as I go and I recently discovered what I consider to be a treasure. There are these things called jelly rolls for sale. They consist of anywhere from 20-40 strips of fabric that have already been cut!

My least favorite part of making a quilt top is the cutting part. I really enjoy the sewing, but the cutting stinks. When you buy a jelly roll, the cutting has been done for you. You can just get right to sewing. How cool is that?

I just bought my first jelly roll on eBay and the material is so cool! Gym says it looks like 1970's neckties.

I'm working on a log cabin design now made from all my scraps, but I can't quit thinking about making the next one from my first jelly roll.
